The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Career Services Centre hosted Sunda International Ghana Limited to a forum on Tuesday 1st August 2023 as part of efforts to engage industry and secure opportunities for students.

According to the Director of the Centre, Mrs. Selina Angmor, the purpose of the forum was to familiarise students with Sunda International, offering them an opportunity to position themselves for potential vacancies within the company. She emphasised the Centre’s mission to bridge the skills gap between academia and industry as well as serve as a hub of opportunities for students and alumni. ‘Our responsibility is to ensure that we provide the support students need to build successful careers,’ she said.

In his presentation, the Human Resource Manager for Sunda International, Mr. Jesse Pobi Otchere, described Sunda International as a learning organisation where employees are demanded to grow and learn as the business evolves. He explained their interest in recruiting young talents in various fields such as Sales, Production, Finance, and Marketing, as well as what they look out for when recruiting. He enlightened the students on the company's talent cultivation system and its recruitment requirements and also highlighted the various training programmes available to employees, enabling them to enhance their skills and expertise.
Mr. Otchere underlined the numerous benefits of joining Sunda International, including competitive salaries, quality management training, and promotional opportunities within the organisation. ‘With a competitive salary, rapid growth, and clear career path, Sunda is willing to offer a Managerial Trainee Programme in the sales area for students who would graduate in 2022/2023 Academic Year,’ he remarked. He mentioned that employees at Sunda International have the unique opportunity to participate in trips to China or other African countries, providing them with exposure to diverse cultures and business practices.

The Northern Regional Sales Manager for Fast Moving Consumable Goods (FMCG) at Sunda International Ghana Limited, Mr. Thomas Ameah, explained to the students what his department offers, stating that the company provides affordable products commonly found in a typical Ghanaian home. These products include baby diapers, wipes, sanitary pads, and household supplies such as detergents, among others. He emphasised the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and experience one needs to get to work in such a Department.
Similarly, the Sales Supervisor for Building Materials Marketing Centre (BMMC), Mr. Foster Boakye, also took the students through the products that his Centre manufactures, which include, tiles, sanitary wares, doors, among others.
The forum facilitated valuable interactions between students and Sunda International representatives, enabling the students to gain insights into potential career paths and opportunities within the Company.
